Welcome aboard the I.M.V. Arcadia

The I.M.V. Arcadia is a 400-ton model KDB 500 Medium Bulk Freighter designed by Kitaryn Design Bureau and built on Strouden (Spinward Marches 2327) by Ling-Standard Products. Ling-Standard has significant yards at Strouden and Lunion (SM 2124). The I.M.V Arcadia is home ported out of Persephone (SM 2228). It is owned by a Persephone based corporation, Drake LLC a Subsector wide line serving the Lunion Subsector and portions of neighboring subsectors. Drake LLC is partially subsidized by the Megacorporation Schunamann und Sohn AG, LIC (SuSAG). Information regarding Drake LLC can be found here: Drake LLC.

The I.M.V. Arcadia was laid down on 185-1094 and launched over a year later on 209-1095. One of the reasons for length of time is because the KDB 500 was designed without standard Iris valve bulkhead doors. Drake LLC had a requirement for ease of passage within the vessel for both materials and personnel. There are a number of pressurized bulkhead pocket doors throughout the vessel (doors designated RED on the drawings). This type of door allows for a virtually flat surface transition between bulkhead compartments. The Arcadia is outfitted with two weapons turrets each consisting of two lasers and one sand caster.

The I.M.V Arcadia has an overall length of 58 meters (190’), an overall width of 30 meters (98.5’), and an overall height of 20 meters (65.5’), to the rudder atop the upper engine. The main body’s overall height is approximately 11 meters (36’). It is a 400 ton streamlined cylinder with exposed main thrusters and fuel scoops. Built at Tech Level 13, the vessel has all the amenities Ling-Standard could provide at the Strouden shipyards. The vessel is a Jump 3 specialized merchant with a 2g maneuver drive and 60 tons of standard cargo space. The I.M.V. Arcadia has the capability for extended stays on planet surfaces to assist with colonization, mining, terraforming and a larger variety of other planetside operations. These extended operations are enhanced with a full medical suite and over a five and half ton machine shop (78 kiloliters). The ship carries one standard small 10-ton ship’s launch/lifeboat and a specially designed 10-ton utility craft called a Raptor.

The vessel has three decks of useable space. The lower level consists of the Bridge, lower engineering, and lower cargo deck. The cargo deck has a large main entrance ramp and small lift. The main deck contains the upper cargo deck (surrounded by a walkway), launch bays, main engineering, the machine shop, medical bay, galley, crew lounge, ship’s lockers, and electronics. The upper deck has the ship’s berthing, mechanical equipment rooms (MER), main fuel tanks and upper launch bays. The MER amidships is also the equipment room for a variety of hoists associated with the cargo space. Each deck has designated fire extinguishers and basic medical kits.

When landed, entrance to the vessel is gained primarily from the main cargo ramp that opens from the middle ventral portion of the ship towards the bow. On the port side of the cargo bay is a small exposed lift that also allows for external access and access to the main deck. On the port and starboard sides of the entrance ramp are open frame spiral stairs leading to the main deck. Between the small lift and the port stairs is the med kit and extinguisher. Spaced throughout the cargo deck are a variety of tie-downs. Aft of the cargo deck is engineering space, normally accessed from the main deck. However, there are numerous space-safe hull plates that can be mechanically removed for access related to overhauls or replacements. The Arcadia stores two (2) floaters (grav-platform cargo handlers) within the cargo deck. Forward of the cargo bay is the Bridge, which is accessible from the main deck. The Bridge area houses part of the ship’s computer, various electronics, med kit, extinguisher, head, and a five (5) kiloliter ship’s locker. The door is to the bridge is a secure bulkhead pocket door.

When landed, access to the main deck comes from either of the stairs or the small lift. At the top of each stair is an airlock, each equipped with two bulkhead pocket doors and a 7.5 kl ship’s locker. These lockers typically contain vacc suits. There is an open frame catwalk circling the cargo deck. Access to the ship’s turrets is about midway on either side of the cargo bay. These doors are not pressurized, but the turret’s access is. Aft of the cargo deck is the entrance to main engineering. Typically, main engineering is not occupied during underway operations as normal engineering functions are controlled from the engineer’s workshop. Between the turrets and the launch bays, are MERs for various ship functions, but primarily for the pressurization of the cargo and launch bays. Going forward through either airlock leads you into the ship’s main living and working space.

As you pass through the airlock, there is the engineering workshop amidships with computer cores installed on either side. Port and starboard are airlocks that access the launch bays and the exterior of the vessel. These airlocks are utilized for extra-vehicular activities as well as docking tunnels to space stations or other craft. Both launch bays have equipment for the maintenance and repair of the small craft. Each is equipped with a med kit and fire extinguisher. Forward this area is the ship’s galley and fairly spacious crew lounge, currently complete with a pool table. The galley store room on the starboard side has almost 16 kl of storage, just over a ton. Forward the galley is the ship’s main storeroom, or ship’s locker, with 42 kl of space, just over 3 tons. Across from the storeroom is the ship’s medical bay. Between the Avionics is the main deck’s head. Next to the Medical bay are the stairs leading to the Bridge and the upper deck. The right side is down and the left up.

Directly across from the stairs on the upper deck is the ship’s pantry. Starboard side forward is a gym, complete with a full refresher. SL-3 and 4 are ship’s lockers for the crew and occasional guests, each with nearly 12 kl of storage. Str-1 and 2 are spacious High Passage staterooms, with Str-1 historically being utilized as the Captain’s cabin and Str-2 for VIP guests. Each of the five crew’s quarters is equipped with a “Murphy-style” walled bunk bed. Spacious for individuals, these rooms are more than adequate when used as double berths. At the aft end of the upper deck passageway is a manual hatch leading to the upper MER space.

The I.M.V. Arcadia model KDB 500 Medium Bulk Freighter is a very capable vessel designed for extended operations. It gives the crew good living and working space with ample storage. Ship’s current armament and defense capability help insure survivability while operating on prolonged solitary assignments.

We hope you enjoy your stay aboard the I.M.V Arcadia.

Below are the ship's plans showing the locations of the Video Intercoms and the camera locations. There will be three (3) external cameras affording full coverage of the ventral portion of the ship. There are two (2) video intercoms installed; one at the personnel lift and one for the cargo ramp.

* GM Note: until this line is removed, the cameras are not yet installed. *

Yellow * indicates a Video Intercom Station (Camera & Display)
Green * indicates an Intercom Station (Display w/o camera)
Red * indicates Camera Location (cameras considered to have a 360 degree view)

Lower Deck:

Note: Bridge intercom is operated from the main control console.
