Moved this from the D&D thread to the photomanip thread, where it belongs:

Seeing as there is nothing posted here I felt a little something should be. Even though this is a photomanipulation I am putting if here for now - maybe I will move it later.

Here is a redo (mostly cropping) of the original picture, is this a little better?

And here is another newer one of the Bard at rest:

Opinions welcome.

You can tell around the hair that it's a photo manip -- it doesn't match the surroundings. It's worse on the left side than the right.

That said, you still do a bazillion times better job than I do. I don't mind adjusting color, etc. in PhotoShop but I hate putting together multiple images. It's very tedious and it's hard for me to get it right.

Thanks, I see your point. Looking at it now I see that it needs some adjustments, especially with hue and saturation to get the Plant image closer to the Guitar Player. I also see the "halo" effect around the hair.

Thanks again.

No sweat. After staring at a computer screen for who knows how long to do these, I'm surprised you have any vision left, let alone the ability to take a step back and objectively gauge the overall result. Forest for the trees and all of that (pardon the pun). Feedback is always beneficial.

So I have to share this;

My wife who is very near-sighted and was without glasses, saw this newest image just moments ago and was able to identify something we all missed. The base image comes from a Renaissance Faire picture and the guitar player has, what my wife called "I can drink wrist band" on. Embarassed

See, everyone really does see something different.

oh crap, you're right! Well, that gave me a good laugh.

One of the 10 books I'm currently reading is The Success System That Never Fails by W. Clement Stone, the guy who taught Jack Canfield. So far it's pretty boring but he does have an interesting image on one page and asks people to figure out what it is. Then you flip the page to see what it really is. It has to do with how the brain plays tricks with us and how we tend to only see what we expect to see even though we are receiving full information. It's pretty wild.

BTW, thanks for pointing out the bracelet we all missed. I used that in a teaching point tonight on focus and how there's always a lot more going on than what we notice.

In the usual synchronicities that occur when I create my classes, I went over my material last night, then saw your email and then got an article that detailed the science behind it. The "reticular activating system" is the part of the brain that filters what we see based on what we expect to see and what we want to see. So now there is scientific proof that if you focus on something, you'll notice more of it, whether the thing you're focusing on is good or bad.

Pretty cool, uh?

Back in the Mid-2000’s Fernis began a D&D Campaign with spanned the years ending, mostly at the last I-Con Convention. Recently there was a reunion game. So I went to work on a few photo manips.
